At Matahio, environmental, social and governance (ESG) is an integral part of our ethos and the “way we work”.

We are committed to identifying, managing, and mitigating ESG risks and identifying ESG opportunities in our daily operations and corporate activities.  In addition, we show our ESG commitment through leading by example. Amongst others, we believe robust and compliant corporate governance practices are essential to maintain our business and the trust of our employees and stakeholders. In order to drive our ESG commitment forward.

Matahio has formed an ESG Committee consisting of a diverse group of our employees. The ESG Committee is the organisation’s driver for internal and external reporting of Matahio’s ESG performance, as well as tasked with promoting the importance of ESG through various means including communication, training  and maintaining comprehensive policies and standards, that drive corporate awareness and facilitate consistent implementation throughout our organisation.

Matahio has crafted a bespoke ESG strategy and plan that targets the achievement of specific, tangible and measurable sustainability.

This plan, summarised below, is regularly reviewed and amended to suit current global and regional needs and more importantly based on a feedback loop across staff, stakeholders, partners and the communities in which we operate.

ESG PLAN 2023
OUR PROJECTS

Matahio’s ESG Plan includes the following objectives and goals

Our priorities in the area of the environment are to:

  • Reduce operational greenhouse gas emissions economically and sustainably, with an immediate focus on deep decarbonisation of our current and future businesses and operations, exploring carbon capture and leveraging emerging technologies where appropriate.
  • Eliminate the impact of produced water and waste on the external environment.
  • Improve climate change resilience, not just for our operations but for the communities in which we operate.

In the area of social impact, we aim to:

  • Safeguard the physical and mental well-being of our employees by investing in their personal development, as well as their career development.
  • Ensure that all of our staff and personnel have a “voice” and a clear line of influence on the business, emphasising the importance of contributions and ideas from everyone, irrespective of their position in the organisation.
  • Play an active role in educating and driving community awareness of the need for energy in the community and assisting with social mobility.
  • Create sustainable futures for the communities through investment in strong and long-lasting local partnerships.

In terms of governance, our focus will be to:

  • Create a fulfilling and inclusive workforce, from the working- to board-level
  • Maintain a suite of fit-for-purpose governing policies, standards and procedures, which are fully rolled out to - and understood by – the organisation, including leveraging our management systems to implement Matahio’s distinct perspective on how decisions are shaped.
  • Establish uniform corporate values reflecting our ESG commitments and good corporate governance, which are fully disseminated throughout Matahio.
  • Ensure integrity and security of all company data, including personal staff information, by rolling out and implementing document control and document management procedures

Our governance framework is implemented through an Integrated Management System
